A. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CHINA MINING 1. CHINA MINING (CM) aims to provide a high-level mining conference and exhibition that is relevant to Chinese and foreign companies alike, whether they are mining companies, service or technology providers, investors, law firms or others. The conference shall be structured to make the event a useful one from a standpoint of business development and networking for all attendees. 2. CM is hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Land and Resources, which has a significant influence on the content and format of the conference. 3. The CM Exhibition and Conference includes companies and covers topics in the non-ferrous, the minerals and the metals sectors. Topics at the conference are designed to appeal to a wide range of companies representing various stages of the value chain: - Finance - Inbound and Outbound Investment - Chinese and International Non-Ferrous Resources / Metals and Minerals - Geology - Metallurgical Processing - Environment - Mining Equipment 4. CM is unbiased with regard to any nation, industry group or any specific companies in the mining industry or the mining service industry. 5. CM acts as a forum for discussion and exchange between the involved parties and provides for networking opportunities. 6. CM tries to improve yearly by taking into account the suggestions of attendees and advisors. 7. CM acts as a forum for the host (MLR) to distribute its views, policies and legal announcements to the mining community, both domestic and foreign. Where possible, CM will also act as a conduit for this community to communicate questions and concerns to MLR, enabling an exchange of views. B. INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE 1. Purpose of the International Advisory Committee The purpose of the International Advisory Committee is to ensure that the structure and content of the CM conference benefits from the expert advice of the wide range of viewpoints from the mining value chain. The input and advice of international experts serves to ensure a conference that adheres to the general characteristics outlined above. 2. Responsibilities of Committee Members Members of the International Advisory Committee are expected to give advice based on their professional knowledge of matters concerning the strategic orientation of CHINA MINING, the structure as well as specific speaker and program content. This includes making recommendations with regard to the general focus of CM and specific topics. Members of the Committee act in their personal capacity. Committee Members will also be asked to support the annual CM awards nomination and selection process. 3. Tasks of Committee Members Committee Members a. Shall be available for advice and suggestions on conference subjects, structure and specific speakers; b. May be asked to provide contacts to CM, especially for conference speakers; c. Shall be free to nominate, will be asked to review nominations and shall provide advice to the selection committee for the CM Awards; d. Shall meet at least once a year, possibly during the CM Conference; e. May be consulted individually on specific matters, usually by email or phone; f. Advisors will be invited to attend CM free of charge, and will also be invited to the awards banquet. 4. Schedule of Involvement The following is a general schedule of Advisory Committee activity: a. January/ February: Topics and speakers Members of the International Advisory Committee are invited to suggest interesting topics and speakers for the up-coming Conference. b. March/April: First comments on the program Members of the International Advisory Committee are invited to comment on the first draft program. c. Early September: Second comments on the program After most names are confirmed, Members of the International Advisory Committee are consulted a second time. d. Second half of September: Consultations on awards Members of the International Advisory Committee are consulted for advice on the proposed Award Winners. e. Beginning of November: General information about conference Members of the International Advisory Committee are informed about the latest program and receive an invitation to CM. f. November: Conference and meeting Members of the International Advisory Committee are asked to attend a meeting to give feedback on this year¡¯s conference and give suggestions for next year¡¯s. 5. Composition of the Committee a. The International Advisory Committee shall be made up of individuals with mining expertise. Members may have a background in either the private or public sector, but all Members shall be well respected in their respective industries or fields of activity. b. The composition of the Committee shall reflect a fair balance among key mining countries. To ensure this, the Committee shall include one representative from the Chinese Ministry of Land & Resources and representatives from various embassies resident in China, as well as varied country representation from private sector members. c. The composition of the Committee shall also reflect a balance with regard to different minerals and mining industries. 6. Appointment, Terms of Office and Departure a. Committee Members may be appointed by the Organization Committee of CM. Members of the Advisory Committee may suggest new Members to the Organization Committee. b. Committee Members generally serve at the discretion of the Organizational Committee. Terms of three years or more will be encouraged to ensure continuity. c. To ensure that the Committee retains its breadth of representation, if a Committee Member changes employment, he or she shall inform CM. 7. Acknowledgement and Compensation The Advisory Committee and the names of all Committee Members will be acknowledged in marketing material with a description of their duties. Committee Members will be compensated for their contributions with a free delegate pass to CM. C. SPONSORS 1. Sponsorship Options 1.1. CM offers sponsorship packages to provide companies with means to become more deeply involved in CM and to receive greater exposure for their company and business activities. 1.2. Different sponsorship options are available. 1.2.1. Major sponsorship packages (Platinum, Gold and Silver) are meant to offer companies a deep involvement in CM and an outstanding exposure on-site. 1.2.2. On-site sponsorship options offer exposure linked to a specific event (coffee breaks, cocktail breaks, etc.) or a specific place of advertisement (carpet, bags, pens, etc.). 1.2.3. Session sponsorships offer a unique way for companies to get involved into the shaping of a session during the Conference together with the CM Organizing Committee. 2. Benefits for Sponsors 2.1. Every sponsorship package provides for an agreed, detailed list of sponsorship benefits. 2.2. The following sponsorship benefits will be part of every sponsorship package: - Logo in Conference and Exhibition Guide; - Logo and link on CM website; - All delegates from sponsors enjoy extended early bird rate for their delegate tickets until the event (i.e. 20% off official rate); - Sponsorship leads to preferential treatment at stand booking. 2.3. Participation of Sponsors in the speakers program (See Section D 1.5. and 1.6..) 2.4. Platinum Sponsors shall, as of signature of the sponsorship agreement, - be regularly informed about the latest developments of CM. During the last five months before the event, information shall be made available to sponsors at least once a month. - be heard on matters relating to a possible involvement of a direct competitor in the speaker¡¯s program. - have one staff member of the CM Organizing Committee assigned to the sponsor to handle all of the Platinum sponsor¡¯s organizational matters that arise on-site during CM. D. SPEAKERS 1. Speaking Opportunities during CHINA MINING 1.1. Speaking opportunities during CM shall be assigned aiming to create a high-level conference program of interest to CM delegates. 1.2. In this regard, a fair balance of speakers shall be realized with respect to the different industries, resources and national representations. 1.3. Presentations within a session shall fit well together, ensuring coherence in contents. 1.4. Any party wishing to present during CM shall inform the CM Organizing Committee about their interest. The party shall at this time provide the name and title of the proposed speaker as well as the title and an abstract of the proposed presentation. 1.5. If a Platinum, Gold and Silver Sponsor wishes to participate in the speakers program, the intention shall be discussed with the CM Organizing Team and an appropriate solution shall be found. However, sponsors are not guaranteed any particular speaking position. 1.6. Sponsors shall receive preferential treatment compared to non-sponsor participants while still remaining within the guidelines as specified above. This applies to speaking slots, exhibition booth location and other preferential treatments. 2. Registration and Costs 2.1. As soon as the CM Organizing Committee can confirm the speaking opportunity to the interested party, the speaker will be registered as a speaker by the CM Organizing Team. 2.2. Speakers will have to pay for their delegate pass. Exceptionally, speakers may be given a delegates pass at the expense of CM. 2.3. No further costs are connected with presenting during CM. 3. Documents to be provided to the CM Organizing Committee Speakers will be informed of a deadline to submit all documents. This deadline will be approximately four weeks before the conference. Before the deadline, speakers are required to provide the CM Organizing Committee with the following documents: - a completed registration form; - a short bio in both English and Chinese (200 words maximum, in flowing text); - a digital picture of the speaker, passport size; - the speaker¡¯s presentation in both English and Chinese. |
